We are down in Hobart for a very exciting and soon to be revealed reason and took the opportunity to attend a seasonal farm to table lunch at a local organic farm that we have been admiring since we saw them on Gardening Australia last year.
The Gardners Bay Farm sits above the wonderful town of Cygnet, about 45 mins south of the city. It’s an organic, no till market garden supplying produce to restaurants and the local community via their veggie boxes. Started by a grower and a chef, they have a beautiful regenerative market garden and orchard and space to run workshops (including ones on Korean Natural Farming which is fascinating!) and events like yesterday’s delicious feast.
The event was attended by many like-minded folk who care about organic growing and eating delicious food. It was great for us to meet some new people and exchange details as we don’t really know anyone down in Hobart yet. There is a certain magic about this community of people who care for the land so it cares for them, and we are excited to be able to be a part of more things like this next year.
